Denotation and Connotation

Image
In this advert I can see a young boy who might be around 8-9 years old .He is sitting on a chair  and he looks quite unhappy and serious.  In the background I see a small hut and a dry area which suggests it is set in a poor country. The phrase 'Dig toilets Not graves' talks about death due to the lack of water therefore it makes the consumer feel sympathy towards the boy.The boy's face would make the consumer pity him which will persuade them to help him.The colour of the ground and the wall shows the consumer that the life of the boy is plain, empty and boring. The colour white shows the innocence and purity of the boy. Audience - This film would be targeted for a mixed gender but it may be a bit more for females. It would be for an older age range,in particular teenagers due to the 13 certificate and the content which is gothic. It also has been reviewed as 'deeply scary' which also shows it is for an older
